COVid-19

To our Christnet friends and family-

In light of recent developments regarding COVid-19 (Coronavirus), our Christnet team would like to emphasize that we are committed to ensuring the safety of our staff, clients, and volunteers — and we are taking proactive measures to protect our community and help slow the spread of this virus.

We are actively working through contingency plans for each of our programs to ensure the individuals and families we serve have continued access to food, shelter, housing assistance, and many other vital services without interruption.

The mission of ChristNet is to provide temporary overnight emergency housing assistance and other services to homeless men, women, and children. We do this by providing a safe secure sleeping space indoors; offering three meals per day; and by maintaining a case manager who identifies and coordinates mainstream resources to help those in need restabilize their lives. ChristNet promotes cooperation among churches and non-profit organizations as we strive to assist our brothers and sisters in God’s family.

We plan to continue our mission during this public health emergency, in the safest way possible for all involved.

It is important to note that our homeless clients are among the most vulnerable in our community, with conditions that increase their risk of contracting and experiencing the more severe effects of COVID-19.

To protect them and help reduce the spread of the virus, we are taking the following steps, in addition to asking our staff and volunteers to follow the CDC Guidelines for all individuals:

  • Asking all employees or volunteers who feel sick to stay home until they recover.
  • Closely monitoring health and safety-related information, including the latest from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC Coronavirus websiteMichigan’s Coronavirus website, and Oakland County Health Division Public Toolkit for COVID-19.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing our buildings on a daily basis.

We are actively working through contingency plans for our food and shelter programs and we will be reaching out with more ways we can all help our disadvantaged neighbors during this challenging time. We are closely monitoring this rapidly evolving situation and will keep you informed as we know more.

We are grateful for your continued support. If you would like to help with the increased expenses we are currently experiencing please go to “get involved” and select “donate.”

Thank you
